Create a pretty winter landscape with Spectra® Bleeding Art Tissue and Dixon markers!

Lesson Plan Ideas

Have each child create nine cards. Have them keep one of their own and trade the other eight with classmates to make a unique collection. Have them glue their collections on to a 9" x 12" piece of Tru-Ray® Black Construction Paper.

Developed by: Kathy Barbro, Visual Arts Professional Expert from Dixie Canyon Community Charter Elementary School in Sherman Oaks, CA.

Steps

  1. Cut watercolor paper into 2-1/2" x 3-1/2" cards. Draw large and small trees on the cards with a Redimark® Black Permanent Marker.

    Winter Step 1

  2. Brush water on cards and apply 1" cut Spectra® Art Tissue squares. Overlap squares. Leave the bottoms of the trees in the “snow”. Don’t cover them entirely with tissue or they will look like they are in the sky.

    Winter Step 2

  3. After a few minutes, remove tissue paper. Let dry.

    Winter Step 3

  4. Use the Dixon® White Paint Marker to add drops of snow.
